GENERAL SUMMARY

Through effective leadership this position will ensure that the Quality function delivers compliance against all Quality management system (QMS), policy, and regulatory requirements, whilst ensuring physical inspection and documentation activities are aligned with production to support the ‘on time in full’ delivery targets to our customers.

The successful candidate will manage and lead the quality function at the Newbury facility, and will require excellent technical and communication skills, stakeholder management and the ability to report quality performance to all levels in the business, including corporate leadership.

The role is based at Newbury, supporting the Winsford office in a remote capacity. Occasional face-to-face presence in Winsford will be required.

 

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Maintain, manage and develop the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with core 3rd party accreditations and Customer specific certifications
  • Spearhead the quality function, taking strategic responsibility for quality development with Customers, driving and further developing quality systems to ensure consistency, sustainability, and standardization to meet and exceed customer demands.
  • Lead, manage and coordinate 3rd-party audits (regulatory bodies or Customer audits)
  • Periodic internal auditing of departments and processes in line with ISO standards.
  • Ensure professional handling of non-conformities and customer complaints, assuring that the root causes are clearly defined, and corrective actions are implemented and sustained, and that the necessary documentation is properly prepared and communicated.
  • Evaluation, audit and approval of all suppliers / subcontractors, and management of the audit program at Newbury.
  • Leads on-going supplier audits in conjunction with the supply chain team to ensure suppliers are delivering to our quality standards and expectations
  • Develop, implement, and measure appropriate QA KPI’s, ensuring findings are issued and continuously monitored through to completion.
  • Develop and embed a quality culture throughout all aspects of the business through engagement and encouragement of employees to increase awareness and build clear responsibilities.
  • Actively encourage a culture of customer focus, continuous improvement, and Quality excellence.
  • Develop training materials and train/educate the workforce on the tools and techniques required for a successful QMS
  • Uses Quality and CI tools to solve quality and operations problems identified during quality activities. Tools include, but not limited to Root Cause Corrective Action techniques, statistical methods, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) systems.
  • Monthly reviews of the QMS systems and reporting findings to local senior management team/agreeing corrective actions and timescales
  • Manage and control the document management department, ensuring timely and accurate project documentation packs (subject to CSR’s)
  • Ensure the organization implements quality plans compliant with customer and industry standards.
  • The compilation, approval, and control of QM manuals/procedures/work Instructions in conjunction with appropriate departments.
  • Review and advise on Pre-sale Quality contractual issues and stipulations, such as CSR’s/applied international standards/etc. (In support of the commercial organization)
  • Oversee any warranty requests in conjunction with the project management team
  • Manage and lead a team of inspectors to ensure goods in, intermediate inspections and final inspections are completed to the operations plan
  • Develop, improve, and standardise the quality inspection process to ensure the right level of inspection is applied and aligned to quality standard requirements
  • Any other reasonable duties commensurate with position/experience and at the request of the Site Lead.

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of financial impact of the quality function

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience of an engineered to order (ETO) business
  • HND (or Equivalent) in Quality Inspection - preferably degree qualified in (quality and/or engineering background)
  • Significant experience in ensuring compliance with National and International standards to include, but not limited to: ISO 9001, ISO29001, ASME, PED, ISO45001, ISO14001
  • Demonstrated ability to influence the Quality aspects of complex contractor and subcontractor supplier relationships nationally and internationally.
  • Accredited as an ISO lead internal auditor
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of analysing the business and to optimizing the QMS & related standards.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, official, external authority bodies, and key customers (e.g., MoD)
  • Demonstration of managing quality improvement program successfully
  • Experience in engineered pressure boundary equipment.
  • Demonstrated management experience and strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work with other functions/departments in a matrix organization
