Job Summary

Directs and coordinates the activities of the team engaged in purchasing and planning for industrial filtration products manufacturing plant through performing duties personally or a combination of self and the direct reporting team. This entails site specific procurement and planning activities and includes the identification and driving of cost reduction opportunities, inventory targets, supplier quality, analysis to support make versus buy decisions. Executing the supply chain strategy for the site, collaborating with Manufacturing Operations site leadership to define priorities and support implementation to meet short term and long-term requirements to meet manufacturing commitments.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures cost effective materials of suitable quality are available when required by Production.
  • Maintain appropriate supplier relationship management for strategic and critical suppliers.
  • Support supplier selection, contract negotiation process and price escalations.
  • Prepare negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
  • Ensure all supplier nonconformance issues are documented, tracked and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Manage and drive continuous improvement in inventory management, reducing surplus materials and increasing turns.
  • Personally participate in procurement activities, to ensure essential requirements are satisfied.
  • Prepare analysis to support make versus buy decisions
  • Oversee production scheduling activities; communicate with manufacturing operations to understand capacity to meet customer demand and enable accurate and attainable planning schedules.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of inventory are in place to support production schedules, product lead-times and communication to the manufacturing operations team daily to address material shortages.
  • Identify solutions to supply chain challenges, working with internal functions and quality to ensure customer satisfaction is protected.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to identify improvements and drive effectiveness
  • Develop the supply chain strategy to support the site manufacturing operations and manage the implementation and execution to drive business results.
  • Manage the supply base strategy to ensure continued supply of materials for manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with the Commercial function on their fabricator strategy to support the fabricator qualification activity and price negotiation process for margin enhancement.
  • Identify and manage cost saving projects and inventory initiatives, reporting out on progress and metrics to Site Leadership and Global Supply Chain.
  • Drive the standard cost program activity, analyse and collate data to support the annual operating plan formation.
  • Assess continuous improvement opportunities to improve internal Buyer Planner processes and material flow into the site.
  • Manage the Buyer Planner team and structure driving performance, knowledge sharing, team development, and team dynamics. Undertake Buyer Planner activities to support the team during peak periods and holidays to maintain the efficiency of the team and meet customer demands.
  • Travel within Ireland and internationally
  • Other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • Qualified to Degree level in a Business or Engineering discipline or a combination of qualifications and experience.
  • APICS, CPIM or IIPM certification is desirable.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment and ideally 2 or more years in a leadership role.
  • Experience of lean manufacturing philosophies.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Experience and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
