ABOUT THE JOB
Valve Repair Technician
Location: Houston, Westplain Campus
Work Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday Onsite 7am- 5:30pm (flexibility between those hours)
Pay Range: $24 - 26/hour based on experience
Job Summary
The Valve Repair Technician will assist in assessing and diagnosing possible problems with large valves and other mechanical equipment. There will be an emphasis on valve assembly, valve parts, and valve repairs in a shop environment. You will work collaboratively with service technicians under the direction of the Service Center Manager.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Fit and assemble machine parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
- Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair, and reassembly including the completion of applicable quality documentation in either paper or electronic form.
- Use mechanical aptitude to independently assess and diagnose possible problems with valves, hydraulic tools and mechanical equipment.
- Must be efficient at managing multiple tasks and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Operating fork trucks and overhead crane
- Shipping, Receiving, valve tool maintenance testing and calibration.
- Pick-up and delivery of customer orders or parts.

- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office preferred but not required.
- Must be able to work overtime as well as some weekends as needed.
Education and Experience
- A high school Diploma or GED required. 2 years of technical training is desired.
- 2-4 years’ valve, mechanical or hydraulic repair experience.
- 2+ years’ shipping and receiving experience.
- 2+ years’ forklift and overhead crane operations experience.
- SAP or ERP software experience is preferred, but not required.
- Must be self-directed, and have excellent initiative, organizational, and communication skills.
