ABOUT THE JOB – CNC Maintenance Technician
Location: Houston, Westplain Campus
Work Environment: On-site Monday – Friday
Work Schedule/Hours: 6:00am - 2:30pm
Pay Range: $30-34/hour based on experience
The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the machines and equipment associated with the production facility.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and provides reactive and preventive maintenance to machinery and equipment with minimal to no supervision.
- Maintains/replaces oils and machine coolants per machine specification as needed.
- Ability to understand proper refract and pH levels and adjust fluids as needed.
- Ability to clean machines and manage daily waste program in compliance with SPCC.
- Maintains oil and coolant inventory levels and ordering product with vendors.
- Proactively identifies, analyzes, and proposes solutions to repair or improve equipment/facility issues before breakdown occurs.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, forklifts and hand and power tools.
- Complete work assignments timely and in an effective manner
- Ability to perform in-depth Root Cause Analyses and identify solutions to decrease breakdowns and increase uptime.
- Work with contractors to perform various inspections, repairs, installations, or miscellaneous tasks.
- Reverse Engineering of used or extinct components and parts for re-manufacture and installation
- Fabricates repair parts by utilizing maintenance equipment.
- Supports the installation and fabrication of equipment and fixturing under Manufacturing Engineering supervision.
- Research and orders repair parts through OEM or Vendors. Maintains stocking levels of spare parts.
- Maintains a clean working environment and adheres to all plant safety requirements.
- Adheres to LOTO procedures on associated repairs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, diagrams, lubrication charts, operation manuals, and engineering specifications.
- Experience and knowledge of CNC machines with Fanuc, Yasnac, Okuma, and AB controls
- Extensive knowledge and experience with lathes, mills, drills, grinders, saws, welders, cranes, hoists, forklifts, and electric motors
- In-depth knowledge of machine metrology and alignments with ability to align machine tools (CNC/Manual) to OEM specifications.
- Basic working knowledge of Lincoln Electric and Miller welding equipment.
- Experience with rigging of machine components up to 10,000-lb.
- Experience of PLC ladder logic programming and diagnosis preferred.
- In-depth understanding of electronic troubleshooting including, but not limited to:
- Relays, switches, proximity switches, contactors, motor starters, PRO's, 3-phase electric motors etc.
- Ability to monitor and diagnose hydraulic systems that are stand alone or integrated into machinery. Knowledge of components, hoses, and fittings.
- Ability to use precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauge etc.
- Great interpersonal skills, attendance, and punctuality.
- Self-starter who is dependable and able to work in a team environment.
Education and Experience
- 5 years’ experience with Fanuc, Yasnac, Okuma, and AB controls.
- Knowledge of servo units, spindles, and other machine parts.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- Must speak English: written and oral.
- Ability to drive a forklift.
- Efficient with Microsoft Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work overtime and "on-call" rotations.
- Formal CNC repair education/training
- Required to supply their own tools
