Location: Houston, Westplain Campus
Work Environment: Monday – Friday
Work Schedule/Hours: Normal Business Hours
Pay Range: 62k-72k Depending on experience
Job Summary
We are seeking a driven and detail oriented experienced buyer to join our team to source, evaluate, negotiate, and purchase with suppliers to achieve optimal quality, delivery and cost to meet our customers’ needs. Responsibilities include coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services for machined parts, raw material, and outside services (heat treat, coating, etc).
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- At all times be a strong and vocal advocate and actor for maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for you and all those around you.
- Foster, develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, Celeros FT leadership, peers and sourcing team members.
- Be responsive to the needs of colleagues in all functions, including manufacturing, planning, projects, quality and finance, while working collaboratively to achieve overall business objectives.
- Review requisitions and obtain materials or services from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
- Manage PO life cycle and maintain information updated in the ERP system (SAP) including anticipated delivery dates.
- Analyse and evaluate RFQ’s to determine optimum value; negotiate price, delivery, and payment terms. Manage vendor communications and progress tracking throughout the duration of the quoting process and prepare of quote summary/evaluation documents.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing and uninterrupted inventory flow.
- Identify cost saving opportunities and assist in developing innovative approaches to achieve yearly cost reduction targets set by executive team.
- Track non-conformance reports and resolve any quality rejections, losses, and return of material.
- Assist with PO cancellations, change orders, and discrepancies between PO, delivered quantities, and price.
- Maintain Purchasing Info Records (price and delivery) in the ERP system (SAP).
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships on an ongoing basis to facilitate effective communication and drive continuous improvement.
- Work with Celeros’ Strategic Sourcing Team to identify and select competent suppliers and develop alternate sources of supply.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to troubleshoot, have knowledge of, and physical ability to perform maintenance and repair Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to develop strategic relationships with suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills, communication skills, teamwork and collaboration.
- Attention to detail and committed to quality.
- Ability to adapt and be cross trained to learn all job duties.
- Experience in a mature purchasing/sourcing function, and the ability to apply expertise in these areas.
- Must be able to multi-task, bring high energy, and act as team player.
- Experience buying components in an industrial setting required, and specific experience buying castings, fabricated parts, machined parts and raw materials preferred.
- CPIM or CSCP is a plus.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, or other equivalent via education and/or work experience.
- 4-to-6 years of experience as a buyer in a heavy manufacturing and/or oil & gas environment with knowledge of procurement methods, procedures, and processes.
- 2 years of capacity and materials planning experience would be viewed favourably
- Proficiency in MS Word, intermediate to advance Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs), Outlook, and ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred).
