GENERAL SUMMARY

The Senior Authorised HV Test Electrician is responsible for managing and carrying out installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of high voltage electrical systems (up to nominally 13.8KV), ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards across all of the site locations at Cathcart including but exclusive to, Maintenance, Test and the Shopfloor and office buildings.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Oversee all electrical work on schemes, including testing and commissioning of Low Voltage and High Voltage electrical equipment
  • Prepare, issuing and cancelling permits (PTW’s)
  • Prepare, issue and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Prepare switching schedules and carry out switching, isolation and earthing duties
  • Produce and maintain maintenance plans for HV and LV equipment
  • Maintain asset register
  • Manage and deliver planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
  • Carry out basic protection testing on HV equipment
  • Undertake troubleshooting and fault finding when required
  • Carry out inductions for electrical specific contractors
  • Reactive to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances
  • Provide technical support where required, taking lead role in any infrastructure developments
  • Identify and resolve operational issues on site
  • Develop, implement and review contents of site safety documentation / policies / procedures
  • Work with other business critical teams to create outage programs for maintenance
  • Ensure competent person training, mentor and sign off colleagues to authorised and senior authorised when required

 

 

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • City & Guilds Senior Authorised Person High Voltage Engineer Qualification
  • Over 5 + years’ experience as an Electrician in a manufacturing / testing environment
