GENERAL SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer shall manage, and coordinate Quality Assurance activities support of project execution in accordance with the company’s quality management system, across product that are manufactured, assembled, and serviced within the Glasgow (Cathcart) facility. Working in accordance with company policies and procedures to meet external regulations to deliver standards such as: ISO 9001, DEF-STAN & ASME Certificates of Authorisation.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Lead Quality reviews of contract specific requirements at tender and order execution phases.
  • Communicate effectively Quality requirements and expectation to functional areas with internal and external stakeholders i.e., Review meetings, Order Review Documents and Quality Plans.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to define and resolve product quality problems and provide advice, guidance and support on aspects and matters concerning Quality.
  • Develop internal processes for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Product Part Approval Process (PPAP), First Article Inspection (FAIR)
  • Lead negotiation of Quality standards with customers in creation and acceptance of Quality Plans/ITP`s.
  • Coordinate with external customers and vendors to ensure clear and concise understanding of Quality requirements.
  • Support Quality initiatives and support continuous improvement as well as widespread acceptance and adoption of best practice. 
  • Create, review and issue of technical documentation for customer acceptance in support of project execution.
  • Support the development of Quality procedures and standards and updating quality procedures as Standard or best practice changes occur.
  • Conduct audits in accordance with the applicable audit programs for Cathcart.
  • Lead product or process related incident investigations, ensuring that lessons are established, learned, and implemented.
  • Maintain highly professional conduct
  • Assume personal ownership for delivery of challenging tasks and projects
  • Ownership of project NCR`s through to closure, prior to goods shipment.
  • Support EHS requirements as applicable through project execution and facility needs.

  • Develop self within role and participate in and develop from training and developmental activities assigned to oneself.
  • Understand Clyde Union Ltd service and product offerings
  • Establish self as a subject matter expert with customer and expert in designated technical/professional discipline
  • Employees are expected to work whatever reasonable hours are necessary to meet the requirements of their job.
  • Travel and additional duties may be required on an ad hoc basis, so a degree of flexibility is required.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University or College Degree in Engineering or Quality Management. Or significant relevant Industry experience 
  • Experience of ISO 9001, API, DEF-STAN`s, NQA-1, ASME Codes and Standards, RCC-M, ASNT-TC-1A and EN ISO 9712
  • Technical competence for review of ISO/ASTM/DEF STAN Standards and customer specifications
  • Basic knowledge of HSEQ Standards
  • Continual Improvement experience in an engineering / manufacturing environment’
  • High level of computer proficiency (WORD, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Technical competence in leading the development of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Product Part Approval Processes (PPAP), First Article Inspection (FAIR), Control Plans, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) processes would be advantageous..
  • Knowledge of Measuring System Analysis (MSA) would be advantageous.
  • Must be willing to occasionally travel and able to spend time away from home, full UK Driving Licence
