The Project Accounting Analyst will report directly to the FP&A Manager and play a key role in ensuring that the Glasgow facility performs to it’s potential in terms of revenue generation, cost control (projects & indirect spend) and meeting KPI targets. Regular engagement will be required with cross functional teams including Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality & Project Management therefore this role will require a candidate with excellent business partnering and stakeholder management skills and experience.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (But Not Limited to):
- Supporting the forecasting process for revenue, OCS & SG&A becoming intimate with all areas of indirect spend including external contracts
- Timely and accurate reporting of month end results offering value adding insight and commentary where required
- Track site performance versus Annual Operating Plan (AOP) flagging any potential risks & opportunities in a timely fashion
- Preparation and presentation of expenditure reporting to functional leaders across Glasgow site holding each of them accountable for the delivery of their AOP targets
- Active participation in weekly revenue review calls with functional leaders ensuring targets are clearly presented and deviations from plan captured and recorded along with explanations and any mitigating actions
- Accurate reporting of site KPI performance adding insight into the results and providing guidance and support in assisting the business to improve performance and deliver against targets
- Provide ongoing support to wide range of internal customers at all levels from Glasgow Leadership team downwards
- Support interim and year end audit process and assist in completion of quarterly SOX testing
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Deliver the month end close process in an accurate and timely manner, offering up efficiency gains and critically reviewing current methods with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ensure integrity of revenue and margin forecasting models and provide support for the weekly/monthly revenue (LBE) process and Cost Review process
- Support the business and be a key contributor to the annual budget process (AOP). Ensure budgets are clearly communicated, understood and explained, engaging with the budget holders to inform them of the outcomes and drive future improvements where necessary
- Effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders ensuring they fully understand the data and impact on the business
- Identify and resolve financial issues that pose a threat to financial performance
DESIRED SKILLS / KPI’s:
- Hold recognised accounting qualification – ICAS, CIMA, ACCA or similar
- Prior experience (1+ years post qualification) in a commercially focussed Finance role
- Ability to interact with management in a proactive and professional manner
- Experience of improving control, process and rigor around financial and operational metrics with the ability to analyse and present accurate and concise management information
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to develop financial models to meet project needs requiring excellent Excel skills
- Strong analytical and communication skills required
- Strong business and financial understanding with the ability to analyse financial statements
- Ability to process large volumes of data to create valuable information for decision making purposes
- Prior experience of ERP systems (preferably SAP & Hyperion although not essential)
- Experience with SharePoint and Power BI preferable
- Embrace daily challenge to meet business requirements – be agile to ensure business receives necessary support by prioritizing workload accordingly
- Ability to work well within deadlines and to deliver results on time
- Self-starting with good organisational skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented matrix environment that is fast-paced and demanding
