GENERAL SUMMARY

Work as part of a team within the assembly and test area, the Mechnical Fitter will be working on pumps and mixers for capital and aftermarket jobs.  The role will include all aspects of assembly from building to dismantling product working in all areas within assembly. Testing within all test areas will include Hydro, performance, noise and vibration and will involve setting up and stripping off test.  Medium used for testing being water, lube oil, diesel.  Working efficiently to produce quality product and workmanship within timeframe applicable.  Help with continuous improvement within areas to improve flow and drive down costs.

 

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • To work in accordance with the Departmental Interface Procedures in an efficient manner appropriate to the above statement.
  • Assembly of new pumps and mixers for capital and aftermarket orders within laid down parameters, efficiently, in line with work instructions.
  • Dismantling and assembly of repair / service pumps and mixers for aftermarket orders within laid down parameters, efficiently, in line with work instructions.
  • Perform all aspects of testing within all test areas which include Hydro, performance, noise and vibration testing. Included will be setting up and stripping product off test, efficiently, in line with work instructions.
  • Working within assembly and test to ensure economic manufacturing to the correct quality standard.
  • Responsible for your own quality of work, self-inspection and completion of paperwork and applicable checklists are required.
  • Assist Team Leader with problems that occur within the assembly and test department.  Work with other departments to ensure that issues are resolve and documented in line with current procedures in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing/updating assembly documentation, programs and tooling.
  • Provide on-going support and training to peers and apprentices within assembly and test area and where required.
  • Be available for further training if required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities when required to assist the company in its efforts to drive down costs and increase productivity through means such as reducing test setups for example.
  • If required, be available to attend customer’s site to carry out service work on behalf of the company.
  • Work in other areas when required.
  • Work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • ONC/HNC (or equivalent) Mechanical/Production engineering and/or extensive proven track record in a similar role that encompasses the above responsibilities. 
  • Have an understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Team Player with high level of energy and commitment required for participating in and implementing change.
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbally.
