Working as part of a team within the assembly and test area, the Mechanical Fitter will be working on pumps for capital and aftermarket jobs. The role will include all aspects of assembly from building to dismantling product working in all areas within assembly. Testing within all test areas will include Hydro, performance, noise, and vibration and will involve setting up and stripping off test.
This position will provide specialist technical and craft knowledge of Plenty Pump products for field service support at customer sites located both in the UK and globally. This could also include offshore installations, and Celeros sites. Responsibility would include all aspects of field service, from supporting plant installation and commissioning through to fault finding, repair and upgrade scopes including on site-machining operations and operator training. Client interaction and the assistance in RCA processes can be expected.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Work in accordance with the Departmental Interface Procedures in an efficient manner appropriate to the above statement.
- Assembly of new pumps for capital and aftermarket orders within laid down parameters, efficiently, in line with work instructions.
- Dismantling and assembly of repair / service pumps for aftermarket orders within laid down parameters, efficiently, in line with work instructions. Completion of Strip Inspection report writing.
- Perform all aspects of testing within all test areas which include Hydro, performance, noise, and vibration testing. Included will be setting up and stripping product off test, efficiently, in line with work instructions.
- Work within assembly and test to ensure economic manufacturing to the correct quality standard.
- Responsible for your own quality of work, self-inspection and completion of paperwork and applicable checklists are required.
- Assist with problems that occur within the assembly and test department. Work with other departments to ensure that issues are resolve and documented in line with current procedures in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing/updating assembly documentation and tooling.
- Travel to customer sites including UK and overseas onshore & offshore installations is an essential aspect.
- Provide site technical and product support to clients on the range of Plenty Pump products.
- Execute the site support aspects of Plenty Pump Maintenance Best Practice in conjunction with Service / Aftermarket and OE Engineering Teams, and as per acceptable and practiced Industry standards, to retain and grow Plenty Pumps Services & Aftermarket.
- Support / Conduct appropriate On-site inspection & repair of installed Plenty Pump product equipment to verify equipment performance and prepare summary reports with support from Service / Aftermarket & OE Engineering team.
- Liaise with Service, Aftermarket, Engineering and Client on results and recommendations.
- Provide client practical training on Plenty Pump product equipment as required.
- Ensure compliance with and drive continuous improvement in line with Celeros EH&S requirements.
- Responsible for the adherence to all company, corporate, local, client specific safety and environmental policies and regulations.
- Create a positive work environment/relationship with colleagues and all customers.
- Provide on-going support and training to peers and apprentices within assembly and test area and where required.
- Be available for further training if required.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities when required to assist the company in its efforts to drive down costs and increase productivity through means such as reducing test setups for example.
- Work in other areas when required.
- Work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- ONC/HNC (or equivalent) Mechanical/Production engineering and/or extensive proven track record in a similar role that encompasses the above responsibilities.
- Time served papers and qualification of mechanical fitter or similar role.
- Have an understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques.
- Team Player with high level of energy and commitment required for participating in and implementing change.
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbally.
