Material Planning Engineer

General Summary
Material Planning Engineer will be responsible for the strategic oversight and management of all materials-related activities for the Ghaziabad Manufacturing Facility. This role is responsible for collaborating with Project Management, Engineering, Production and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely procurement and effective utilisation of materials, managing the master production schedule, producing an achievable shop floor schedule and optimising inventory levels. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and project management.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible to execute the site materials plan meeting customer requirements
· Develop and implement materials management strategies aligned with project requirements and organizational goals
· Analyse project demands and forecast material needs based on production schedules and lead times
· Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of materials
· Implement best practices for inventory turnover and minimize excess stock while avoiding shortages
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and take initiatives to enhance materials management efficiency
· Develop training programs to enhance the team's skills in materials management and supply chain processes
· Where slippages occur, ensure steps are taken and communicated to the Site Lead and relevant functional leads with a recovery plan
· Responsible for reporting Materials related metrics to the organization
Essential Skills
· Degree in Supply Chain Management, business, management or other related discipline.
· Strong background in the management of materials and sourcing within a design and manufacturing
environment
· Experience in total quality, six sigma, or other similar environments
· Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP or Oracle) and their use in a manufacturing environment
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
· Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills
· Ability to obtain a security clearance is essential
