Pay Range:  75-000 - 85,000

 

SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for leading the financial consolidation and reporting for our Canada legal entity which includes a large manufacturing facility and two service centers supporting the production and servicing of Clyde Union pumps globally. This position is responsible for analyzing and supporting key accounting and finance functions including cash application, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, tax compliance and reporting, fixed asset management, accrued liabilities, and general ledger accounting. The role also supports financial reporting, audits, and process improvement initiatives. This role will report to the Site Controller.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accounts Receivable and Cash Application
    • Monitor and manage the end-to-end cash application process to ensure timely and accurate posting of customer payments.
    • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve payment discrepancies.
    • Collaborate with collections and customer service teams to streamline AR operations.
  • Taxes
    • Assist with sales, use and property tax filings ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
    • Prepare tax-related schedules and provide support during audits.
    • Liaise with external tax advisors and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Prepaid Expenses
    • Maintain and reconcile prepaid expense accounts.
    • Prepare monthly amortization schedules and ensure accurate recording of prepaid items.
    • Coordinate with department managers to identify and classify new prepaid expenses properly.
  • Fixed Assets & Accrued Liabilities
    • Maintain the fixed asset register, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
    • Track construction-in-progress (CIP) and ensure timely capitalization.
    • Manage and reconcile accrued liabilities monthly, ensuring accurate and complete accruals.
  • General Accounting
    • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly close activities.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
    • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and support internal control initiatives.
  • Financial Reporting
    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Provide variance analysis and explain fluctuations in key accounts and financial metrics.
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes through data analysis and reporting.
  • Assist Finance and Site leadership with special projects as needed.

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Audit experience, preferably Big 4 Accounting firms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of financial modeling
  • Familiarity with manufacturing cost structures and operational KPIs is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills required
  • Strong business and financial understanding with the ability to analyze financial statements
  • Ability to process large volumes of data to create valuable information for decision making purposes
  • Experience with SharePoint and Power BI preferable
  • Energetic individual with a clear sense of urgency
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and to deliver results on time
  • Self-starting with good organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented matrix environment that is fast-paced and demanding

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting required
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis and accounting. 
  • Knowledge of Hyperion / HFM accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP preferable
  • Successful track record of challenging finance and accounting courses and/or projects
  • Proficiency with integrated business software (ERP) preferably experience with AS400 and SAP
  • Ability to interact with management in a proactive and professional manner
  • Position expected to lead to other opportunities after 2-4 years in this assignment
