QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST

 

Location: Burlington, Ontario

Work Environment: On-site Monday – Friday

Work Schedule/Hours: 7:30 am- 4:00 pm 

Pay Range: The base pay range for this position is $85,000 – 100,000, CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

This position will function as the Quality Assurance Specialist for ASME /NQA-1/N285/ N299 /ISO Quality Programs reporting to the site Quality Supervisor. This candidate will be a technical expert within the Quality department providing Nuclear Technical input on product quality, Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Quality aspects. The candidate will also be expected to help maintain the Quality Systems by Performing Internal and External Audits, Supplier Quality Management, Driving Corrective Actions to improve Customer satisfaction and Lead Continuous improvement projects related to COPQ reduction and Customer fulfilment improvement.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the corrective actions and root cause analysis for discrepant processes and materials. Implement long term changes for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and facilitate effective corrective action and preventive action process.
  • Perform functions pertaining to discrepant material, including working with other functional areas within the facility and off-site location to contain and correct the immediate situation, drive to the root cause, and prevent future non-conformances.
  • Develop inspection and test plans for customer orders and manage stake holder approvals.
  • Lead Continuous improvement projects in Quality Department to improve Customer Satisfaction.
  • Investigate customer issues/ internal issues regarding our product quality and facilitate immediate resolution through permanent corrective actions.
  • Prepare for and participate in 3rd party audits of our Quality Systems.
  • Conduct audits of internal and external processes on as need basis.
  • Manage supplier related non-conformances, deviation request and quality documentation approvals etc.
  • Lead PFMEA process and quality risk assessments and develop plans for process improvements.
  • Develop and implement Quality control plans for manufacturing processes throughout the facility.
  • Be an expert resource for nuclear quality processes e.g. Nuclear Codes and Standards etc.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working experience in a Quality Management Systems environment (ISO 9001/ ASME Sec I, III & VII, N285, N299).
  • Hands on experience with various codes i.e. ISO 9001, CSA N299, CSA N285, or ASME NQA-1.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, problem solving, and quality statistical analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication and writing skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail.
  • Ability to collect and organize data and develop charts for meaningful analysis and understanding.
  • Expertise in Engineering drawings reading and mechanical inspection tools and methods.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Non-conformance reporting requirements.
  • Manufacturing of Pumps/ Pressure vessels.
  • Comfortable with a changing, fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in all MS products: Excel, Word, Power Point etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • PC skills: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Minitab.

 

Education and Experience

  • A relevant degree in Quality Assurance or Engineering
  • 5+ years direct working knowledge and experience in manufacturing with extensive use of API standards/ ISO/ ASME/ N285 / N299.
  • Knowledge with ASME Codes – Sec II, V, IX, (Welding, NDE, Inspection & Materials).
  • Experience in Sec I, III & VIII (Both design and Quality Systems).
  • Experience in interfacing with Customers, internal, and suppliers.
  • Experienced in manufacturing of Pumps/ Pressure vessels.
