JOB OPPORTUNITY:  Quality Assurance Specialist

Work Schedule/Hours:  Normal business hours

 

Job Summary

This position will function as the Quality Assurance Specialist for ASME/API/ISO Quality Programs reporting to the site Quality Manager. This candidate will be a SME (subject matter expert) within the Quality department providing Engineering input on product quality, continuous improvement for pushing the quality back at source and Manufacturing Quality aspects. The candidate will also be expected to help maintain the Quality Systems by performing internal audits, drive corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction and lead continuous improvement projects related to COPQ reduction and customer fulfilment improvement.

 

Must have welding knowledge.  Nuclear experience is a plus.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the corrective actions and root cause analysis for discrepant processes and materials. Implement long term changes for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and facilitate effective corrective action and preventive action process.
  • Perform functions pertaining to discrepant material, including working with other functional areas within the facility and off-site location to contain and correct the immediate situation, drive to the root cause, and prevent future non-conformances.
  • Develop ITPs (inspection and test plan) for customer orders and manage stake holder approvals.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects in Quality Department to improve Customer Satisfaction.
  • Investigate customer issues/ internal issues regarding our product quality and facilitate immediate resolution through permanent corrective actions.
  • Prepare for and participate in 3rd party audits of our Quality Systems.
  • Conduct audits of internal and vendor processes on as need basis.
  • Manage supplier related non-conformances, deviation request and quality documentation approvals etc.
  • Lead PFEMA process and quality risk assessments and develop plans for process improvements.
  • Develop and implement Quality control plans for manufacturing processes throughout the facility.
  • Be an expert resource for product quality processes e.g. welding, non-destructive testing, painting etc.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working experience in a Quality Management Systems environment (ISO 9001/ Sec I, III & VIII, N285, N299).
  • ASME Section V and IX operational experience with particular emphasis on Welding Code.
  • Hands on experience with various codes i.e. ASME & ASTM etc.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, problem solving, quality engineering statistical analysis, and first article development processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication and writing skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail.
  • Ability to collect and organize data and develop charts for meaningful analysis and understanding.
  • Expertise in Engineering drawings reading and mechanical inspection tools and methods.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Non-conformance reporting requirements.
  • Manufacturing of Pumps/ Pressure vessels.
  • Certification in NDE methods is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of 3D inspection tools like CMM/ FARO is desirable.
  • Comfortable with a changing, fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in all MS products: Excel, Word, Access, Power Point etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years direct working knowledge and experience in manufacturing with extensive use of API standards/ ISO/ ASME/ Welding/ Machining/ Inspection.
  • Experience with ASME Codes – Sec II, III, V, VIII, IX (Welding, NDE, Inspection & Materials).
  • Experience in interfacing with Customers, internal, and suppliers.
  • Experience in manufacturing of Pumps/ Pressure vessels will be considered valuable.

Salary range $85,000 to 95,000 based on experience.
