Machinist - 429A License REQUIRED  - This is a union role with a starting rate of $40.12/hour.

 

The Machinist will set up work and tooling on machining equipment and operations for CNC equipment such as boring, milling, turning, and drilling as well as other commonly used machine shop equipment with minimum supervision.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up work and tooling on machining equipment, and operations for CNC equipment such as boring, milling, turning, and drilling as well as other commonly used machine shop equipment with minimum supervision.
  • Interpret drawings, create manual program (Manual Data Input], edit CNC programs.
  • Inspect machined product and features using appropriate Inspection, Measuring and Test equipment.
  • Provide continuous improvement in machine operations {e.g., tooling life, surface speeds and feeds).
  • Cleaning and removing burrs after completed operations.
  • Hold close tolerances and surface finish requirements.
  • Exceptional teamwork skills and effective communication abilities.
  • A demonstrated history of good attendance and safe work record.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent mathematical skills including the ability to work with fractional measurements and decimals.
  •  

            Education and Experience

  • Completed a recognized apprenticeship in the machinist’s trade and 429A License required.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5 years of machining experience with CNC Horizontal Boring Mills, CNC Lathe, CNC Mills.
