JOB OPPORTUNITY:  Application Engineer Nuclear Pumps

Job Summary

As Application Engineer, you will assist Customers to identify/verify their requirements and specifications and will prepare competitive costings/quotations / tenders that are technically, commercially, and regulatory accurate by Company policies and procedures. As an Application Engineer for our Nuclear Pump offering, you will assist customers in identifying needs and verifying requirements/specifications. You will prepare competitive costings, quotes, and tenders that are technically, commercially, and regulatory accurate according to company policies. The Application Engineer interfaces with customers and internal stakeholders to provide support and solutions that will strengthen relationships and positively impact the opportunity to win orders. You will interface with both Customers and internal stakeholders to provide support and solutions that meet the needs and expectations of Customers, strengthening relationships and positively impacting the opportunity to win orders.


         Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Sales on the Customer's requirements and specifications, including the scope, and timing.
  • Review the RFP (Request for Proposal) / tender document to ensure the contractual requirements are adequately defined and determine the Company’s capability to meet the specified requirements.
  • Prepare and submit the techno-commercial offer to Sales as per the offer submission schedule.
  • Review and evaluate the detailed technical specifications, applicable ASME, API CSA and ASTM codes and standards for packaged equipment, extracts applicable Customer requirements and translates/communicates the same to sub-contractors, sub-vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Obtain quotations for relevant bought-in equipment in accordance with the applicable Supply Chain policies and procedures.
  • Perform a technical and commercial evaluation of the sub-supplier’s quotations (for the major critical components/items) to ensure the quote/scope follows the Customer's requirements/specifications and is following applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Develop and submit a detailed proposal to the Customer in accordance with the applicable Tendering Policies and Procedures (ITO - Inquiry to Order).
  • Ensure the CPQ tender data and tendering front log are accurately completed and actively managed.
  • Provide ongoing technical and commercial clarifications as requested by the Customer and internal stakeholders to support successful order placement.
  • Provide tendering support to regional tendering and sales teams for win order strategies across the product lines to ensure all activities occur on time and with high quality from proposal receipt to handover.
  • Support with Customer visits during bid clarification / negotiation stages.


        Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge about ASME Nuclear code and Nuclear safety requirements.
  • Working experience with ASME N, NA, NPT & NS standards as well as CSA N285 and N299.1/2
  • Ability to follow Nuclear Quality Assurance processes and procedures and able to deal with third party notified bodies e.g. TSSA
  • Familiar with the culture, requirement of Nuclear plant operators, respective EPC companies and Nuclear qualified material organizations
  • Ability to understand pump products, specifications, and supporting design reviews.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturing drawings and other technical information. Thinks creatively and has engineering knowledge to solve problems, provide technical solutions and develop alternatives.
  • Responds professionally to all inquiries and remains calm and composed when under pressure.
  • Is driven to achieve and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Is self-motivated, highly organized, and methodical. Displays exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, even when handling multiple demands.

        Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years related experience. Works independently and requires minimal guidance.
  • Experience in Nuclear Class 1, 2 & 3 rotating equipment manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
  • Good knowledge and experience in reviewing highly detailed specifications and writing comprehensive and accurate bids.
  • Experience in Rotating Equipment/Centrifugal Pumps is preferable.
  • Experience in product selection and sizing software e.g. Intelliquip is desirable.
  • Experience using Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as SAP and other technical applications.
