JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for undertaking finite element analysis (FEA) and fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling engineering activities across OE, A/Market and Development. Providing Technical support on tender enquiries.

 

Primary duty is to undertake a defined range of engineering integrity analysis in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements. You are required to liaise with different departments and disciplines in order to ensure an effective & productive outcome while continually maintaining high quality & standards. You will drive engineering design integrity and compliance, quality and safety to maximize customer specification. Daily role includes, but not limited to, mechanical design calculations (hand calculations and in-house proprietary programs), computational analysis and associated CAD modelling/modification, interpreting design criteria to apply boundary conditions and interpreting and presenting outputs. Provide technical support and direction for manufacture, assembly, supplier and client in relation to product compliance and integrity.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work under the technical guidance of the Chief Engineer, Lead Engineer and/ or Snr Mechanical Engineers and others within Engineering.
  • Undertake the full range of Mechanical Engineering Design tasks under supervision including, but not limited to, finite element analysis including: baseplate design analysis, pressure boundary design analysis, and pipework design analysis across a number of different pump types, Modal analysis, Static stress analysis, ASME VIII Calcs, Harmonic analysis, Fatigue analysis, Non-linear analysis.
  • Create 3D CFD compatible models from provided drawings or CAD files
  • Develops CFD analysis of product design whether new and expansionary, incremental, or for product maintenance
  • Prepare presentable deliverables (e.g. figures, tables, presentations, written reports) for customer
  • Analyzes computational research work applicable to product performance.
  • Evaluates performance test results and CFD analysis for possible application to development of systems or other uses. Able to perform Pump performance analysis , NPSH analysis, pressure drop in valves etc. Be proficient in computer assisted engineering and design software (Fluent and CFX, etc.) and equipment to perform engineering and CFD tasks.
  • Helping team to achieve project deadlines, delivered with desired quality, cost and efficiency.
  • Works to develop functional skills and advanced disciplines of self.
  • Help maintain of company standards relating to discipline.
  • Assist with standardization of products, process, tools and calculations etc., to reduce time/risk

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

  • 3D CAE skills required; Solidworks, Ansys Workbench Mechanical, Ansys Space claim
  • Demonstrated expertise in Finite Element and Modal analysis at both single component and assembly analysis level. Specific professional experience with Ansys workbench is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as integrity and lifting criteria and operating conditions, safety rules, Design concepts/layouts, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Understands the various turbulence models and their best use cases.
  • Understands the difference between steady-state, Multiple Reference Frame and Transient models and their best use cases.Understanding of cavitation with ability on associated modelling. Understands various concepts of multi-physics (gas-liquid interaction, particles, Thermal coupling, fluid/structure interaction
  • Must be experienced in computational fluid dynamic simulation software and CFD techniques, including modeling and mesh generation, have experience in validation of simulation with measurements and data post processing, system level hydraulics, heat transfer and thermal simulations and fluid dynamics.
  • Familiar with ANSYS (CFX & Fluent), SolidWorks and Inventor, understanding differences between and sensitivity between CAD and CFD models.
  • Team working ability and an attitude of collaboration, mentoring and flexibility.
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly; Technical writing experience preferred but not required.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • BE in Mechanical Engineering with related 2-4 years of professional experience using Ansys Workbench.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
