1.0        Job Summary

 

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Azure Platform Engineer responsible for building, operating, and continuously improving Azure-based platform services, including AKS and container platforms, that enable application development teams to deploy and run workloads reliably, securely, and at scale.

This role owns cloud infrastructure, CI/CD enablement, container platforms, security integration, and operational stability, while application development teams retain ownership of application code, logic, and functional behaviour. Additional responsibilities will include Office 365 administration / support (all products) and other collaboration applications within the environment.

 

2.0        Principle Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Design, provision, and manage Azure development, test, and production environments supporting enterprise‑scale workloads.
  • Enforce robust cloud networking, security, and identity standards to maintain secure, resilient cloud environments, protecting data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Diagnose and resolve complex platform and security issues.
  • Architect, implement, and administer Azure platform services including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps (ACA), Storage Accounts, Key Vault, and core networking components such as VNets, Private Endpoints, and Load Balancers.
  • Own the full AKS platform lifecycle, including cluster provisioning, upgrades, node pools, scaling strategies, availability, and platform hardening to security standards
  • Deliver and maintain CI/CD capabilities for containerized workloads by owning pipeline frameworks and deployment standards, automating build‑to‑production workflows, and partnering with development teams to onboard applications
  • Collaborate closely with development, security, AI, and project teams to apply platform engineering best practices and deliver reliable, integrated cloud solutions.
  • Support the deployment, operation, and lifecycle management of AI, data, and intelligent automation platforms hosted in Azure.
  • Participate in production go‑live activities, hyper care support, and ongoing steady‑state operations.
  • Stay current with emerging Azure technologies, cloud security advancements, and containerization tools to drive continual improvement and innovation.
  • Create and maintain high‑quality documentation—including policies, system diagrams, operating procedures, and disaster recovery plans—to support operational continuity and business resiliency.
  • Lead or contribute to internal projects related to supported technologies, including evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of new tools and platforms.
  • Perform or assist with capacity planning, performance monitoring, trend analysis, and error investigation to inform required system enhancements.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements and automation initiatives, including development of PowerShell scripts.
  • Provide support and maintenance for Microsoft Exchange / Exchange Online and Office 365 applications, including OneDrive. Responsibilities include provisioning mailboxes, user accounts, and distribution groups, managing mailbox constraints, and advising on enterprise Exchange policies.
  • Administer Office 365 Exchange Online environments (domains, policies, transport rules, etc.), monitor service health, manage service requests, and handle user account deprovisioning.

 

 

3.0        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • 5 -8 years+ experience in platform engineering, with a speciality in the Azure Platform / Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience in containerization, with a solid understanding of ACA and AKS environments. Skilled in not only managing containers but also designing and deploying them effectively.
  • Experience designing and operating CI/CD platforms for cloud‑native workloads.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell or Azure CLI.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide technical direction and coordination to other teams while participating in the Change Control Process
  • Working knowledge of Exchange Online / Microsoft 365 tenant administration.
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise environments.
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications and training

 

 

4.0        Mandatory Education and Experience

 

  • Minimum 5-8+ years of experience in Azure / Cloud Engineering
  • Strone experience of Azure security, networking and identity management
  • Engineering or Masters degree in IT or computer Science from recognised university
  • Ambitious individual who can work under their own direction towards agreed targets/goals and with creative approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills and able to communicate and manage stakeholders
